Catch up day at work. Last week we finished a lot of special projects, so I have to catch up on the everyday stuff now. It’s a job.

On to better stuff. Here is my pumpkin Thimbleberries Quilt.
It’s hand quilted. I took a pumpkin leaf out of my garden and quilted a pumpkin leaf shape on each pumpkin and a vine of leaves around the border.
I really like the look of my hand quilting better than my machine quilting, there’s just the time factor and I guess I’ll get better with practice. I get tickled, Finn calls it utility quilting, her stitches pretty much mimic my “fine” quilting. It’s still fun and I never count how many stitches there are in an inch, it’s not about that. It’s about this tradition that my grandmother had. It’s about the love affair with fabric and piecing squares together that could keep someone warm at night. It’s about looking back and having memories attached to each quilt.

Gratitudes:
1. Having job I’m able to leave when Chelsey gets sick.
2. Pumpkins in all shapes and sizes
3. Definitely Diet Coke

You are right about the hand stitching - it is the look that is so wonderful. Tiny stitches only make it look like machine stitches! Your pumpkin quilt is a wonderful Fall quilt.

Your pumpkin quilt is just lovely Melaine, you made a lovely job of it! Hand quilting is my favourite too, if only there were more hours in each day we could do it!
Diet coke is great ... I'm grateful for it too, it gets me thru the day!

Love that quilt - it's definitely on my "to do"list for "someday - when I retire". Your hand stitching looks just fine to me!

Looks good to me. I never count my stitches either -- but I am trying to get better at making them a uniform size.

Another lovely quilt - you are so right, machine quilting just wouldn't give the same effect.

My quilting teacher said that the important thing wasn't how tiny the stitches are, only how consistent they are. One of these days I am going to break down and hand quilt something.

I'm with you -- I like my hand quilting much better than my machine quilting -- but finished is better than not! And it is about the process -- that's the most enjoyable part for me -- except the giving away.

Very, very nice! You're making me want to do a fall quilt - put all my other projects in progress aside and do Autumn lol
