My Mom took me to a great quilt shop, Priscilla’s Quilts. We pinched on everything in the shop. I had always wanted an Australian quilt magazine. So, that along with four fat quarters that were calling my name came home with me.
There were several magazines to pick from. I chose this one because of the quilt of the front that said, “Do one thing each day that makes you happy.” Definitely got to incorporate that into a quilt.Quilting—I had some really long layovers coming and going on the trip so I packed up the Primitive garden blocks and took a chance. I brought fingernail clippers to cut threads. I walked up to the check-in desk and was totally honest- “Guys, I’m a Quilter and I’ve got long layovers, May I bring a needle on the plane to quilt with?” They asked, “Knitting Needles?” My response, “No, an inch long sewing needle.” They smiled and said, “sure, no problem.” Well… I appliquéd up a storm, completed one block and halfway completing another. I didn’t have time to cut out tiny flower petals, but I got every piece I brought appliquéd into place. I’ll have pictures real soon.
I’ve spent the last few days, unpacking and catching up at work. Everyone has been great. If everything was perfect while I was gone--- they wouldn’t need me, so there were a few bumps, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Ransom survived, sleeping on the floor by my bed the night I got home. Don and Chelsey did great.

Glad you are home safe and sound. Your Mum sounds like mine. She won't let me lift a finger on the first day - I get spoilt! Can't wait to see Primitive Garden.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time, and oh what yummy fabrics you brought back with you, and the bonus of a good Aussie magazine. Glad your back with us again.
Sounds like you had a nice trip. Happy to have you back here with us.
Welcome home! Sounds like you had a wonderful time and YEAH for being able to applique while you travelling.
Sounds like a great trip . . . there's just nothing like Mom's cookin' *s* 12" of snow? I cannot even begin to imagine what that must be like - just know I was out in the yard barefooted today and I thought of you. So glad you're back - I missed ya!
What a wonderful visit you had - I'm so very glad! It's so important to spend as much time as possible as they get older. I miss both my folks - and my sister and brother too - especially this time of year. And they've all been gone a very long time now. Thank goodness for all the wonderful memories we made together. Just what you are doing now.
I can imagine a terrorist on plane attacking with a sewing needle LOL I always bring sewing on the plane, and have precut thread with me.
You're going to love Homespun mag. It's lovely.
You really had a nice trip! I have the same Homespun on my table!
Sounds like a wonderful visit. I a going on a plane tomorrow too, to Oregon, woo hoo! I have prepped some Dear Jane blocks for a swap I am doing, and will bring a few needles and a decorative thread cutter (looks like a pendant) I've got nearly 24 hours of travelling, I will definitely need it!!!
Glad to hear that you had safe travels - traveling in the winter with snow/ice/storms can always lead to unexpected delays. Nice that you were able to both visit your parents AND get away to someplace warm and sunny!
Cheers!
Evelyn

Your mom sounds like the best mom ever. Good for you for asking about the needle. I wouldn't have thought about that.
