The weekend is here. Of course, I have the opportunity to sleep in and I’m wide awake at 5 am, so I thought I’d type a few lines. Eric made it home this weekend. I haven’t seen in him 6 weeks. It’s the longest he’s ever been away from family. He seems to be thriving. We celebrated Don getting a promotion last night, going out to eat –lots of fun.

Work is going well. Lots of tasks completed, but longer days than I would have liked. Don and I have been getting home about the same time. He’s been running Ransom with me and helping out a lot around the house. We’ve kind of got an unwritten law that housework is divided by how much you’re home, so we’ve put in about 50/50.---No complaints.

Chelsey is having friends over for a Halloween bash tonight. They’re wayyyyy tooo cool to dress up, but we’ll have munchies, a couple of games, and movies… I’ve got the bunnies ready.

I’ve got one last seasonal quilt. It was a Thimbleberries quilt from a few years back. The vines are a little different than the pattern.
I guess reading and studying everyone’s quilts has gotten to me. I want my quilts to be different. We’re neck deep in Thimbleberries country around here, but when ever I go shopping now, it’s not the Thimbleberries stuff I purchase. I guess everyone’s taste changes over time.

Gratitudes:
1. The quiet hum of the furnace this morning.
2. All my chickens, aka my kids, asleep in their own beds.
3. Time to sneak down to my sewing room right now.

Have a good weekend—
Count Your Blessings

Nice to see someone else is up as early as me. We're in the midst of a 2 day rain/wind storm here.
On Thimbleberries-they've been so big around here for years, but one shop I work with did the Harvest Spice for their BOM this year. One quilter I know calls them "Thimble-uglies", because she got so tired of seeing them come through the door.
I still like them, but I've also fallen in love with CW repros and some batiks. Pretty eclectic, huh?
So, when your son came home, did you just look at him for several minutes, checking for any changes? I do that with Keri and she's home every other weekend.
Have fun with the "cool" kids tonight.

You sure are the early bird, I can't even imagine being up so early! I love how you decorate your home, it's so beautiful. Your quilt is just lovely, I do like the Thimbleberries patterns. I'm like you tho, I haven't been buying so much of the Thimbleberries stuff of late, having said that, I have a lot of it to get thru!
*hugs*

Ahh -- a few quiet moments to sew before the day begins. I'm glad to see the bunnies are not too cool to put on their costumes *s*

The bunnies look so sweet. :-)

And I can testify on tastes changing. I've always been drawn to brights and I do still love them. But lately I've wanted to work with civil war colors or thimbleberryish stuff, or pastels or florals. In other words everything BUT my normal style.

Another great fall quilt. It is darling! I see very little Thimbleberries around here and try to gather pieces when in Minnesota. They really make lots of nice "compatables" that go great with many fabric lines. If I could wake up as early as you and STAY up I might really get something done!

If I had known you were up, I may have stayed up myself, but I hate getting up that early on a weekend, its bad enough all week. I love your constantly changing seasonal decorations, such a good way to work in your quilts and use so many of them-aside from being adorable in their own right.

Love your bunnies and your Thimbleberries quilt--looks like Halloween has arrived at your house. I am always a day late and a dollar short--but I am just now getting into Thimbleberries!!! I've always liked it but bought a book of tablerunners the other day and want to make either a Thanksgiving or Christmas one.

Love the dressed up bunny rabbits! One can sure get a lot done if one get's up early. I never seem to get enough sleep during the work week these days, so my husband entertained the dog and kept him out of the bedroom this morning. I slept in until almost 9:00 a.m. - unheard of!

I like Thimbleberries fabrics - but not by themselves. There is too much of a "sameness" to them. I mix mine with lots of other fabrics and like them much better that way.

love your quilt. I don't have much in the Thimbleberries range. My favourite at the moment is the florals from Moda.
I always enjoy seeing how you decorate your home. The only time things change at my place is at Christmas time when we have all our decorations, quilts and lights displayed.

I think it is that our tastes change over time. I did Thimbleberries way back when, but I much prefer others now, more primitive, darker, richer colors -- TB sometimes comes off flat to me -- may be my old eyes though!
Enjoy your kids this weekend!

sounds like life is settling down for your family - I know I see a lot of thimbleberries in a few shops around here but there are many, many art quilters in Seattle so that is what I see the most - what I long for is a great shop that sells lots of folk, primitive, and plaid stuff

Your quilt is pretty - and the bunnies are adorable! At least They are dressing up!
I understand about not wanting to make the same thing as everyone else. The point of making something yourself is that you can customize it. That is why I rarely buy a kit - I gather my own fabrics so there is at least a chance that they will look different from everyone elses.

I would be sick of the dark and dreary palette that sometimes goes with Thimbleberries if I had gotten in to them by now. I know they are NOT all that way but they sure struck a cord with a lot of quilters. Tastes do evolve over time though.

Gotta love those bunnies all dressed up for the trick or treaters.

Something about having those 'chicks' all home at once isn't there? Even tho mine are happy and doing well...the house just seems to be more content when they are here. I'm a bright girl myself...I think it is the Arizona sunshine

I'm an early bird too. I get alot done in the morings. I like your fall quilt, but the hearts you're working on in your in your last post I'm really in love with. I might have to invest in that pattern.

I don't like the sound of that 50/50 rule for housework - I'd have to do all of it since I'm home way more than Keith. Luckily he helps and I have someone come in every two weeks. I'd rather spend my time quilting than cleaning!

I also get a lot of inspiration from all the quilts I see on the internet and books and magazines. My quilts usually turn out somewhat different than my inspiration quilt which is usually a good thing.
