Other than a few presents to wrap, I think I’m ready…I’m enjoying this holiday season like I haven’t enjoyed one in a long time. I keep trying to put my finger on exactly what the difference this Christmas is as compared to others and I can’t place it. Maybe it’s because we had an early Thanksgiving, giving more time for the Christmas season. Maybe work is at a comfortable pace right now. I guess it’s one of those things that you ‘don’t ask why--- just be thankful.’

Eric made it home. One semester down --- nine to go. Chelsey is really enjoying him being home. This week our church has a live nativity scene. I’m a greeter for two nights. It’s always fun and a good outreach to the community.

Here it a photo of my Christmas dishes.
These are my favorites. They weren’t expensive. They’re not china. I just loved them. We eat on them throughout the holiday season. I have a real weakness for dishes. I’m not sure my marriage can withstand another set. I don’t know what it is. But I have a ‘dish shelf’ and the dishes change with the seasons. My husband always laughs and says if there is a natural disaster everyone needs to meet at our house because I could feed a small community with the number of plates and bowls I have.

I look back and think… when did I start collecting dishes? I go back to when I was in high school and worked at an old department store “Woolco”. It was back before the Wal-Mart era. I bought a Christmas crème and sugar bowl set just because I was charmed with them. I still have them.

My Mom and I have matching apple stackers.
When I was home she had hers decorated with Christmas ornaments….too cute. This weekend, I found ornaments for mine. We’ve put pumpkins on it, pears, and apples of every color. I think I’ve talked with my Mom every day since I’ve come home from their house. Moms are great.

Isn't it funny about collections -- they just kinda happen. Enjoy being around the table with you family sharing a meal with these little beauties *s*

I love your dishes! I have seen snowmen and santa dishes, but nothing with a chickadee before. If I had seen them, I would likely have bought them too! *LOL* I too talk to my mother--usually at least once a day. Sometimes it is not what you say, just that you touched base for the day.

Your dishes are cute! When I bought dishes for my apartment in Austria my DH told me to get anything I wanted - and I came home with plain white! I just couldn't decide and finally thought white would go with most everything. I am glad that you are enjoying this holiday time.

Cheers!

Oh I love your xmas dishes! I have some cheap ones from Walgreens with snowmen on them! Something I don't worry about if they break! Glad your enjoying your holiday season. I won't go into it here, but I'm a bit down this year on mine.

Your dishes are gorgeous! I had a place setting for 4 of Christmas china when I married, but once there were 5 of us, I passed them on to a friend who had 4 in her family. At some point I'd love to have Christmas dishes again. I saw some beautiful ones at the Lenox store...but would be afraid to use them!

Your dishes are very nice - seasonal but rather classy too I think! I phone my mum every day too.

How charming your holiday dishes are--seeing pictures of your home throughout the year I would day that they reflect your tastes quite nicely.

Clever to use the apple tree for ornaments.

I'm with you - I love dishes! My Christmas dishes are like yours - not china and not expensive. They are stoneware and I love them. They are holly themed, so like yours they work for all of winter. I take them out the day after Thanksgiving and keep them out until Valentines. If I just had enough storage space I think I'd have a set of dishes for every season, and holidays too if I could find them and had the money.

Tell your husband that if he doesn't give your plates the respect they deserve, he'll be eating off of paper ones.... lol

And it'll be those cheap flimsy paper plates too!

I remember Woolco--it was the big box store that Woolworth tried, wasn't it? Haven't thought of it in years!

I too am a dish freak--it's a real addiction. Love your chickadees too.

If you figure out for sure why your holiday is so pleasant, please pass it along. ;-)

Love the dishes and the apple stacker. was having a little catch up and really enjoyed your sunday School story. It would be fantastic to end up like that in another 40 years, still such faith in God and spouse. We can only hope.
