Definitely a sign of the new coming year….

Look what came in the mail today. There’s nothing like the receiving of those seed catalogs to let you know Christmas is over. We’ve still got 4 months of hard winter left but the first two have been pretty mild. My garden shoes were a $9.95 purchase from LLBean. I’ll be smarter this year. I left my old pair on the back porch and Ransom and his buddies hauled them off into the woods somewhere. The kids always say, “Mom, you’re such a dork in those shoes…” I think they’re awesome, the dorkier the better—and as long as they are dorky, Chelsey doesn’t borrow them, plus they’re pretty easy to spot in the closet…

I took a break from quilting… that right. I took a break from quilting, not work, not housework, and not even laundry. I took a break and Ransom and I took a walk. It’s about 35 degrees.
The fresh snow makes everything seem so clean.

I took the Christmas tree upstairs down today. It’s something that Don usually does. I put the decorations up and he’ll take them down. I don’t like doing it. It’s not about being lazy; it’s about the ending of the season I think. But I realized time is going to pass and procrastinating isn’t going to make it “not happen”. So I sucked it up and did it. I’ve got to rearrange the quilts around… but that’s the fun part…

Gratitudes:
1. Sleeping late (6:15am)
2. Ice cold water to drink
3. Listening to my kids laugh downstairs.

the snow looks so pretty but I am glad it is you and not me
and I love those shoes - I have an llbean gift card so I should look into getting a pair of those - the pair I have are just plain green and getting kind of worn out

I took Chloe for a walk today too, but it is in the high 50's so I just needed a sweatshirt! Not winter at all here. Shhh, maybe I shouldn't be saying that... It could hit any minute!

Those pictures are beautiful! Same weather for me as for Dawn, but unlike JP I would love to have at least one good snow. *S* I love your gardening shoes, girl! And I too hate the dismantling of the Christmas tree...I ALWAYS miss it and the lights after it's taken down.

Hey, I like the garden shoes. I just keep some boring black Croc's by the back door. Harper is issuing an invite to Ransom to come to California. We had a gorgeous, sunny day here, she enjoyed the backyard all afternoon. The snow looks beautiful, but we think Ransom's toes look cold.

Like Libby, I keep a pair of dull black Crocs by the back door. I like your garden shoes better. Glad you got some snow.

Gorgeous photos of the snow - it must have made it difficult to take down your tree when it looks so Christmasy.

The snow pictures are beautiful. I would have stayed inside, at 35 F, though. =)

I was JUST talking to my DH yesterday about gardening and plans, etc! Too funny! And - today is the day I take down my little rhinestone trees - I don't do much decorating, so not too much to put away. It IS more fun to put them out than put away... Looks like you had a beautiful walk - I love how the snow looks and the cold doesn't bother me as long as I wear my ski pants!

Cheers!

Evelyn

Your snow photos are beautiful. Seeing that kind of picture makes me 'feel' past winters, and I miss them a bit. I would miss them more if I didn't remember how tiresome they could be when they stuck around too long, or you had places you HAD to be and the roads were foul. Perhaps I will follow your lead and take our tree down today. I don't mind taking down, I like getting the house back to 'normal'

You have the most beautiful snow pictures...I love it. I took the boys for a walk this morning but it was in the low 70's going to 83 today. YUCK! I want to wear sweaters not shorts. This weather thing is just crazy. Keep posting snow pictures...makes me feel cooler :) Happy New Year!

The snow does look wonderful! Those are the best gardening shoes I've ever seen - they remind me of fairy toadstool pictures :-)
