Chelsey worked last night, so I stayed up and quilted. I’m up to 48 blocks completed on my red/green project. I’ve been kind of calling it the Blessings quilt, because it started out with the Yuletide Blessings fabrics. I’m shooting for 72 blocks to make it queen size. So maybe I can work on it again tonight.

It’s snowing; we’re expecting 5 to 8 inches by evening. It’s beautiful, I’m just nervous about driving in it. But with life in the U.P. you have to just get out in it--- because the snow isn’t going anywhere for a while.

Today’s photo is a late Christmas gift from a friend.
An Internet friend—three year’s ago I would have been mortified at the thought… and my father probably would still be mortified if I discussed it with him. But these gifts came from someone I’ve never met…and I think she knows me pretty well.

She made the purse herself—she knows I love old keys—Look at the fabric, and the inside is the reverse. The talent some people have impresses me so much.

She recognizes life would not be the same without Sharpie markers. And when life is at it's worst music from when I was a teenager seems to fix it.... Whenever she sends a surprise, she always throws something in for my kids Sunday school class—she sent rubber stamps this time. I told her that life is better with dark chocolate and she found a candy bar I’d never seen before (notice all I have left is the wrapper). The scarf even has an old key on it.

We can’t get DMC floss at our Wal-Mart anymore and I whined about it to her and she became my personal shopper and sent the floss complete with a bow.

I had Christmas all over again when I opened the box.

I better bundle up for work.

LOL Back in January of 2000 I flew from the safety of our little teeny tiny rural home on the Oregon coast to Miami to visit with an internet friend....my parents worried themselves sick the whole time I was gone!! LOL it was hilarious!

They were so nervous about the whole thing they took me to the airport, hugged me and asked me one more time if I was really sure I should be doing this! I think they forgot I was married with grown kids!

I've traveled to meet several internet pals and have had a few travel to my home as well...it is always fun to finally meet face to face.

Agreed about parent's concerns about meeting/staying in contact with friends from cyberspace, but quilting internet friends are different, as we all know.

You are lucky to have met such a great friend who knows your tastes and style.

DMC in thousands over colours over here. Are you looking for any specific number?

Life is very different now with our instant access to people. But in the end, don't you think it might make us more compassionate as we can so easily connect with people from all around the world? I hope so.

Isn't it amazing how the internet makes friends over miles (and sometimes continents?). I know there are people out there who don't get it -- but, I'm always amazed by it. Lovely gifts, and even lovlier is the friendship.

TGIF!!!!

A lovely surprise, indeed. Our new Wal-Mart is not carrying floss either. Very strange!

I've never met any of my Internet friends but it makes me feel good to call them 'friends'. It's a whole new world. :-)

Lovely gifts - your friend is very generous. I know what you mean about making friends online - I was a bit nervous to start with too but it's a great way to connect with like minded people all over the world.

Our walmart stopped carrying the thread too. I was not happy about that.
Love the key fabric. My daughter loves old keys and has a nice collection of them.
Stay warm and be careful out there in the snow
