It’s the day before Friday---Hallelujah. I had a meeting at church Tuesday night; a school meeting tonight and Chelsey has an away ball game on Friday. So…I stayed home from church last night just to do some catching up. I made a Wal-mart run, cooked supper, started some laundry…. And I just needed to be in my sewing room.

Chelsey got this magazine in on Monday—I haven’t even let her look at it….
At work, I had this page opened all day to glance at while I was ”on hold” on the phone or waiting for the computer to process a transaction. Yeah, the guys at work were relentless and made fun of me throughout the day.
There was a card out of paper scraps, but they gave kudos to quilters.

Anyway, I went home and made a couple of fabric postcards. I always say, “ I need to send her a note..” but if I don’t have the cards ready the moment passes. I still have to appliqué the stem, but I think they’re fun. The fabric makes them look like real leaves with different shades of color. In less than two hours I made two… and the therapy was great. I just used pieces from my scrap basket and tea-dyed muslin on the back. I usually buttonhole stitch around the edges, but with my machine STILL in the shop, this old machine had a turkey tracks stitch and I tried it. These will be off to Wisconsin and Louisiana by the weekend.
Here’s one last photo of the leaves.
Ransom and I took this one evening.

Those postcards are lovely. Thanks for the goodie box - I love the spiced cider candle and the pumpkin has joined my other pumpkins on the front table. Have a wonderful end of the week. I really need to take a quilt book to work and lay it open on my desk - or I guess I could do that if I had a desk!

As always, you've got lovely things to show. I love the postcards - where in the world did you get the stamp? I love it! And it looks like they're almost square - I thought they had to be a standard 4 x 6 for the post office to take them. Do you have success with different shapes? (cause it might be easier to piece a square one) Your leaves are already so pretty, too. Afraid ours might be too dry for much color.

That's just what I would do. Look at something and think about it all day until I can get in my sewing room and blast it out. Wonderful postcards with the autumn leaves.

Hi Mel, more gorgeous work...as always! *VBS* and I have to tell you how you make my heart sing and bring a smile to my face...*VBS* It's your ability to see the beauty in simple things and be satified with what there 'is'. I think it's either a gift of age( or maybe inborn in some of us) or worked for wisdom...either way, the cards are just lovely! Scrap basket was the perfect place to go for the colors. Hugs, Finn

What cute postcards! And . . you made them instead of just adding them to your "want to make" list.

Those postcards are great, is that a stamp that puts the postcard details on? I've not seen that before, really makes it professional!Tracey
