It’s Sunday night--- I’m dreading Monday morning and work already, but I’m putting it in the back of my mind….Keep thinking about the good stuff. Teenagers are downstairs laughing as I type. It’s good having everything that matters under one roof. Eric made it home from Bible Camp this morning. Chelsey doesn’t leave for Detroit until Tuesday afternoon.

Friday night I completed-----time out….

Don just came inside and went downstairs. I heard what he said to each of those kids, “ I ought to make each of you take a walk, 10 minutes ago a teenage boy, drunk, came right down the road where your Mom, your Dog and I were walking. He spun out, totaled a car, hurt himself enough that ambulances are working on him and the State Police are standing there waiting to arrest him. Our neighbor was out cutting trees and he was almost hit. Timing is everything—Your Mom and I cut our walk short tonight… wonder what made us do it?”…. Monday morning is nothing compared to this….

Back to the good stuff. Friday night I completed the binding on the Missionary quilt. Remember it’s going to Liberia in Africa.
I think it kinda has that “Look”. It’s a real light batting and the binding is pieced together pieces of the red, blue, and green. There were errors in the instructions. The blocks were supposed to be 8 X 8, but the triangle strip only came of 6 ½ inches. There wasn’t time to make new triangles so I cut the strips and made smaller blocks.

I put four labels on it.

I named it ‘Fences and Pathways’. Fences can be really great things, they protect our garden vegetables, keep our kids in the backyard safe and keep our pups from harms way.
But fences around our hearts keep us from meeting really good people, trying new things and even letting go of the “bad stuff.” What kind of fences do you have????

Well anyway, it’s boxed up to head to Liberia tomorrow. Thanks for the “pep talks”. I think others had more faith in me than I had in myself…..

Game plan for the week---
Catch up on the 365 project
Work on the teddy bears quilt
Road trip to Green bay Tuesday
Get back to my BOMS

A lovely quilt! I knew you'd make it! Fences, yes I know about those. I suppose fences around a heart is much better than a wall. No space to go through with a wall! ;o) Family is so important. Funny how it's often the ones we neglect. Keep well!

Oh, beautiful, beautiful!

So glad you cut your walk short! And what a miracle that more weren't hurt in the accident. I hope your DH's words make an impact on some young lives.

Great finish on the quilt. The colors are wonderful. What a blessing this will be. Monday won't be so bad - you have Tuesday to look forward to and I hear there may be some opportunities for fabric fondling in your future.

Fences and Pathways. A beautiful quilt! I love your labels, too! Your missionary friends in Liberia will cherish that quilt, for its beauty and for the beauty of love that went into the making of it.

I'm glad you and hubby are home safely. HE guides our pathways and keeps a hedge/fence around us. Here or in Liberia.
Blessings.

The quilt is lovely - well done for finishing it so quickly, I'm sure the recipients will love it. Wise words from Don, thoughtless actions can change innocent people's lives in a split second and witnessing something like that always puts everything into perspective.

The quilt is wonderful! The fabrics and colors are pretty, but far more important are the love and caring that went into it. I imagine any missionary family will be able to know that. You picked great quotations and Scripture to put on it, too. They might decide to use it with the back on top just because of those blocks.
I'm thankful none of you were hurt in the accident.

What a terrific quilt. And 3! labels - so many times I can't even manage one *s*
I'm so glad you cut your walk a little short - I hope no one was hurt and that many, many people got the message to be mindful of safety.

As you face work today - keep a little secret in the back of your mind . . . when things get tough, bring it out, think about it a little, smile, then tuck it away for later.

This is such a beautiful quilt. I just love the colors you have chosen for it. I think you should write your name on a label.

Scary and sad. I hope the driver is OK and that he learns something before he hurts someone else.

The quilt looks great.

Wow, great job on getting it done, with your own modifications to the pattern to make everything fit. I really like the label squares you put on the back too!

I constantly worry about walking with my son and seek out "walking paths" only or seldom traveled dirt roads. Your story makes me feel a bit better about being so paranoid. Glad you weren't out walking when that happened.

Cheers!

What a marvelous quilt! And the labels are perfect. I love your sentiments about fences - so true! There are so many wonderful, generous quilty bloggers in this world with no fences around their hearts - we are so lucky to be meeting them!
