This is what one hour's worth of quilting looks like..... There was a lot of thought that went into the 'one hour a week project'. I chose this quilt pattern because my attention span is not that great. Working with only two colors-- while I admire the finished project--- tends to make me bored. I want the quilt. I just lose interest. Working on this for about an hour is all I could handle. I retreat to work upstairs. So for the record.... This quilt took me three hours to cut out. And now I'm one hour into sewing.
I've thought about the finances that go into a magazine subscription and if I don't make at least three projects a year from the magazine-- is it really worth it?

I don't even buy magazines any more - there never seems to be anything I really want to make in them, they always seem like the same patterns no matter the magazine. I find so many patterns free on line now.
Mel, I didn't renew my subscriptions this year. I was taking two! I decided to try some of the Internet sources that are free. I have a hard time letting go of old magazines just in case I decide to make something. Lol. I am running out of space for them! Hope your year is going great so far. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the new quilt you are doing! Hugs, Karen
I agree... I also let go of all of mine except for Primitive Quilts and Projects. I will give it a whirl for another couple of years because I do find projects to do in there.... did my middle daughter's wedding quilt from there and now my youngest daughter also wants a pattern from there for her wedding quilt... so I figured this one is still worth it to me.
I only take PQ&P now .... and that one might be on the bubble come renewal time. I can always but over the counter if there is a design that sends me over the moon.
Seems like we are in good company when it comes to justifying all the magazines available to us... I don't subscribe to any at the current time... I have too many back issues that I haven't made a thing out of! There's so much inspiration available on line, not to mention the local quilt shops... personally, I'd rather do my share to keep them in business!
Hang in there with your 2 color quilt... it will be worth it, even if it takes a bit longer!
Yes I think the cost of the magazine is worth it because tastes change, and you may find a project in that magazine somewhere down the road.
Stick with this project. I'll bet you'll be glad you did!
I too have a short attention span. I love the looks of some quilts but I need quicker results than some of those allow. I don't get any magazines anymore. I hate paying $5+ for a magazine to get one pattern. I either wing it or find the internet to be my best resource.
