My folks left for Louisiana yesterday. We had a good visit. It’s kind of hard when you only see your folks once or twice a year. You can see changes in them more. Lots of cooking together, card playing, and watching football. Mom and I went shopping one day. The day they left I got my plane ticket to visit them in December. It was OK for them to go home, I just wish they could come back for Sunday dinner next week. That’s the problem with living so far away.

The day I left for Wichita Don cut out this newspaper clipping.
We’re making serious effort to organize and “de-junk” our basement. He saw these wardrobes on sale. It was like he was reading my mind. He told me to go get one and we’d paint it somehow and use it for storage. I’d always wanted one. For that price I got two—and one will hold my sewing stuff. Isn’t it just the best?!?!? The wood is knotty pine; Don was a little disappointed but I think the knots add character…

When I got home I was going through the mail and got the Main Street Cotton Shop Catalog from Hutchinson, Minnesota.
If you are unfamiliar with the shop, let me introduce you----It’s the shop below Lynette Jensen’s Thimbleberries Studio. She really captures fall and the Northwoods well in her quilting.

It’s got to be a good week—The Packers won.

We went to a service last night for a friend’s 90-year-old Mother who passed away over the weekend. It was really nice. Sometimes those things are hard to go to, but when I realized how much it meant to the Mildred’s daughter that we came, I was so glad We did. When people live such long, full lives those services aren’t sad, people often smiled and laughed with all the good memories of this lady.

Glad to hear your visit with mom and dad was good and how fun to have a plane ticket so you have something to look forward to in December. I love that wardrobe. Enjoy organizing.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could see our parents every week? Or better yet, every day? Seems I have to push dh out the door to visit his mama. She is 85 and we are so fortunate to still have her in our lives. We live is separate states but visit weekly. My parents are gone...oh to have one more day with them.

Melanie I'm so happy you had a good visit with your parents, and a ticket for December, like Juliann said that's something to look forward to. That wardrobe was a real bargain and such a nice style. I would have gotten two as well. Thanks for the link to the Cotton Shop, I've just ordered their catalogue.

That wardrobe does look perfect. I'd love to have one myself. I prefer storage that can be "closed up". The price is great and I would like the knots too.

Those wardrobes look great - it will be fun to paint them and even funner still to fill them up *s*

Gosh - $79.00 what a deal! I bet it would be perfect for fabric. Now do you need to buy more fabric to fill it up? LOL

I agree - when someone dies at 90 we should celebrate their life and all the years they had with their family. Too bad you couldn't see your parents more often. I don't get to see my parents often either and I miss that time with them.

Visiting with parents is always a lot of fun. I will get to see my mom in 3 weeks. Dad is in a nursing home and can't travel so I'll have to arrange a visit to see him.

Good deal on the wardrobes. I hope they work out well for you.

I've watched the Packers games the last 2 weeks. They are looking good.

It sounds as if your folks had a lovely visit and December isn't very far away. How does one go about ordering the catolog?
