Monday morning—Do good weekends make it easier or tougher to go to work on Monday morning????? The weekend was outstanding. Bad storms on Friday night gave way to a gorgeous weekend. Chelsey had another Homecoming Dance and Don & I worked around the house. The leaves are turning more and more every day. The photo was taken last Thursday.
I bet the color has doubled now.

I’ve got my next Primitive Garden block pattern traced. The pattern pieces are cut out and so is the fabric.
There’s a lot of work before you ever pick up a needle. This block has close to 100 pieces. I stressed a little—wanting to get “to the good part”, but I exhaled and told myself—it’s all fun.. relax and enjoy it…There’s definitely some kind of therapy in cutting fabric. I’ve got a church meeting this week but I’m hoping to start on it soon. I stitched a long over due gift and got it in the mail.

I don’t know who loves the weather more.. Ransom or me…and I’ve been pulling out the pumpkin quilts. I haven’t picked the gourds out of the garden yet. I hoping to let them grow as long as I can.

I had four kids in Sunday school this week, so they got lots of TLC…

Gratitudes---
Emails from friends
Don and I having fun watching football
Grocery shopping when the store is just about empty of customers(there has to be a perk somewhere)

Beautiful -- our colors are just subtly changing right now -- greens into yellow greens.
Word of caution on the bom: I've been stitching in front of the tv at night and forgot to put the handle and the bar in front under the can! So I've just butted it up against it -- it would look better under! Oh- and one of the stems goes under, too.

Isn't it amazing how the trees change colour so quickly at this time of the year? It is almost time to head out in search of some colour in the country ....

You hit the nail right on the head with your sentence "There’s a lot of work before you ever pick up a needle." I found the same thing while preparing 36 little 2" hearts last week.

Hi Melanie...The leaves are falling from the ancient oak tree in front of my house and it makes fall seem real, but the weather keeps telling me it's still summer. Please shoo some of the cooler weather down here anytime! I love pumpkins too and reading your post reminded me that I have a wall hanging pumpkin quilt somewhere around here. I need to find it and display it. Hope this turns out to be a great Monday for you!

What gorgeous colours, that's the first thing I noticed when I came to the US for my first visit, was the stunning colours of Autumn and instantly thought what a wonderful artist God is. Can you tell me what method of applique do you use? I'm trying to find one that fits me.....

I have to head to Northern AZ to see Fall colors but that's OK. :-)

Oh it's the "work before you ever pick up a needle" that I find a bit daunting at times. We just have to plug along to get to the good stuff. LOL I can't wait to see this new block, Melanie!

I just love this block, so it will be sooo worth it! Now that you have all that boring part done you can have fun, fun, fun! I can't wait to see it!

Not sure you really wanted an answer to the weekend question. If I have an unproductive weekend it makes me want to stay home and get stuff done. So a "good" weekend helps me get a good start to the week.

:D

I just discovered your beautiful blog. I, too, love to quilt but am always looking for the odd hour to get some work done on a quilt. The photos are just lovely. We moved to southeastern Michigan two years ago and really like it.

I picked up a couple of red yellow leaves this morning and brought them inside. My husband wanted to know why? I said, I don't know .. just thought they were pretty...There doesn't have to be a reason for everything... It think its harder to go to work after a great weekend!

Amazing colours. The leaves are still rather green overhere. It’s raining cats and dogs today with some thunder. Time for some crafting and cosy reading on the couche. I love Autumn.

Looking forward to seeing the finished result. 100 pieces is a bit daunting.

Is that your buggy in the photo?

I think a good weekend definitely makes it hard to go to work on Monday. Especially if you were getting a lot of fun stuff done.
100 pieces for a block? Woah. I can't wait to see it done. Good luck getting to the "fun" part.

Hi mel, yup, we had the storms before you got them...luckly, no trees down here. Definitely a stormy autumn so far!
Love the knobby kneed lady in the garden..*VBS*, and the bird house blocks for PG is just gorgeous!! I'm sure the new one will be also.
Glad you weren't hurt by the deer/car incident!! Hugs, Finn

I'm like you -- I want to skip the "boring" parts and get to the fun stuff -- but, like you said, it can all be fun. Here's hoping you get to the fun stuff sooner rather than later!

Oh I love fall colors. We have them here as well at the moment, but in not too long all the leaves will be on the ground covered in snow. I am sure your block will be well worth the effort of cutting all those pieces!
