The Bird's Nest

I’m still here. I’ve been enjoying the change of season. Winters are pretty tough up here, My few perennials seem to have survived and are peeking up from the ground.
I may even purchase flower baskets for the porch this coming weekend.

I made Mother’s day gifts for my Mother and Mother-in-law this year. I stenciled each a Garden sign. I guess I’m the last person in the world to learn how to do this, but I just love my first attempt. I quilted each a make up bag from the Moda’s free line of patterns. Then I got my Mom the new Debbie Macomber she loves and My MIL the movie the Women. I totally recommend the movie – it kind of restores your faith in female friendships.

I was cutting back some shrubbery last night when I looked on the porch. Here’s a photo of the wreath I received for my Birthday. Well, look at it now. People pay good money to have a bird’s nest planted there and nature took care if it for me for free. Don peeked in for a photo opt and looks like we are going to have three babies.

I had been seeing a couple of Robins around acting like they owned the yard, but I didn’t see any nests in the trees close by— Now I know why.

Work is the best it has been in a while--- I guess it’s all in attitude…..

Gratitudes—
My daughter home for the summer
My son plowing through finals—one every day this week
My faith – holding onto it tightly

I've never learnt how to stencil Mel, so I'm in the group behind you.... Love the photo of the birds nest, how neat is that to have it on your front porch where you can watch the development of the babies.

That pretty wreath is even more beautiful with the nest in it.
I'm also holding onto my faith and my hope in Jesus.
I enjoy your blog and send best wishes and greetings from Alabama.

Oh my gosh!! What a perfect place to build a nest! You have to take some pics when the robins hatch.

I discovered those makeup bag patterns a few months ago. They are so easy to make!

3 eggs? What a special treat!

I love it all, the stenciled signs, the makeup bags, and especially the nest in the wreath. What a blessing it is! I didn't know that Debbie Macomber had a new book out, I'll have to see if my library has it yet. Haven't seen the movie, thanks for the recommendation. Happy Mother's Day!

So glad that you are back Mel. You were missed. Both moms are going to be very happy lovely gifts. Did you make your own stencil? Those robins were smart to build a nest on your porch. I hope that you keep us posted on their progress.

Very nice Mother's Day gifts for your mom and mil. I never realized that robin's eggs were that blue. I had a hummer make a nest in one of my trees one year. It looked like a tiny little pouch and had three of the littlest eggs I'd ever seen in it.

What a delight to have eggs in the nest. Love the wreath. Looks good where you have it displayed.
I hadn't thought making my own wood signs. Where did you find the stencil?

Welcome back! I've MISSED you!!
Love the sign and bags. You're such a good gift-giver. I'm jealous of the nest - this is the first year in I can't remember how long that I don't have even one nest on the porch in a flower pot or whatever. I'm still hoping for the second round of eggs and babies, though.
Sounds like you're lined up for a good summer. Hurrah!

How awesome to have a bird build their nest in your wreath!! It is just beautiful! And your M and MIL are going to be so thrilled with those bags and garden signs. I haven't tried the signs, but I do love them. I may have to give it a try one of these days. :) I'm so glad things are better for you at work right now.
