I’ve been around, just not quilting a stitch. We’ve been making preparations for Chelsey, my last, to graduate from high school. Both sides of the family are coming up for graduation in ten days. It is customary up here to throw a open house for the graduate. We’re doing a Barbeque theme, with just barbeque snack items as there will be tons of these ‘get-togethers’ the same day of ours. People go from party to party.

Eric came home for Mother’s day this past weekend. I was Queen all weekend. I really did nothing productive, but the whole family spent a lot of time just talking together.

Last week was a tough week at work. It was a great surprise to open the mailbox Friday evening to this:

It was a thank you gift from Leanne in Australia. What a treat. I think I have worn the pages out already, reading it cover to cover--- over and over again. My favorite part is the Natalie Lymer Embroidery piece in the issue.

Spring is creeping in to the U.P. I’ll probably be ‘out-of pocket’ until the end of the month. I’m definitely looking forward to a summer of gardening and quilting. Thanks for the emails checking on me. I’ll be back to posting June 1st.

Gratitudes:
Don’s Patience—So many hidden emotions about your last kid finishing school
Ransom---always being glad to see me.
Daffodils – reminding me that winter does end….

I was jealous when I saw that you were one of the winners of this magazine - I saw a couple of them a few years ago (they are awesome) and this one really has good things in it, judging from the "teasers" I've seen online. I specially love Natalie's designs also and wish they were less expensively available here in the States.
You are definitely in a special period of time with Chelsey, and I know that you will make the most of it. Your party will probably be the one folks talk about for years afterward. Take lots of pictures (like there's any doubt about that) of folks who will be together in a special way. Things will never be the same again. But - you will just have a different kind of wonderful after this milestone.
Enjoy!

I've been enjoying your blog for over a year now, and I started by reading back to the beginning so feel like I've known you longer. (Does that sound creepy? Gosh, sorry if it does!)

I chuckle each time you mention your dog, as my middle son (4th of 6) is named Ransom, too.

Believe it or not, I don't know how to quilt, only a few things I've done on my own, impatient and self taught. But even though I'm 45 I often think while reading your blog, "I want to be her when I grow up". :)

Thanks for the lovely read to look forward to!

I'm so glad that you had a great Mother's Day, Melanie. I also enjoyed checking out the pictures from the prom dinner. You certainly pull out all the stops on that one. BRAVA!!!
