Paradise—no – vacation—no—just a week at home. I couldn’t be more content. Don and I made a pact last year that we’d take one week a year home doing home projects, sleeping late, and doing fun things together. Housework, yard work, everything is better when you have someone to do it with. Sunday we broke out the bicycles for the first summer ride.

We‘re not glued at the hip. Today he went on a 5 mile jog and I opted for the elliptical machine and weights. It has gotten to where I have to do lots more lifting at work, so Eric’s put me on a weight training program.

I ran errands, He’s re-doing some landscaping. I picked us up salads for lunch. This afternoon I completed a block on my Journey of a Quilter.
I still have the stitching to do on it but I’m extremely pleased. Her directions were great, and by taking my time everything fell into place. It’s hard to get a feel of it from the pictures, but I pulled fabrics that have special meanings to me--Fat quarters from friends, Thimbleberries, pieces from gifts I’ve made for others.

At about 6:45pm last night, I told Don, I could fold laundry, catch up on some paper work, or read a book in the hammock on the porch. He said, “You have a week off of work, I vote for the hammock.” So He took the porch swing and I the hammock. About ten minutes into it a thunderstorm comes up and we listen to the thunder and watched the rain. Swinging back and forth he said…” You can’t watch this on a deck…” I just smiled.

My Irises are blooming,
and
thanks to the generous rain last night, the snap beans are popping up.

The neat part of all of this is I get to do it again tomorrow…..

Sounds like bliss :-)
Your Leannes House block is gorgeous. It's a good idea to do all the piecing first.
Almost motivates me to get back into mine. I never got past block three!!
One day maybe????

Sounds like your having a totally wonderful time, even though it's only day 1. Love your Leanne's blocks, think I need to look into one of her patterns. Enjoy the rest of the week off.

I'm totally envious! Okay, maybe not totally--the weight training thing just doesn't sound all that exciting, but the rest sounds wonderful!

I always think that going away on holiday is very stressful, all that packing, and making sure you've got everything - by the time you get away you're worn out. More people should holiday at home, it's a great idea!

Very much My kind of week. I am always happiest when I am at home. The project of Leanne's blocks look so good. I'm keeping my eyes open for some of her patterns. Isn't she the greatest.

what a lovely pact. Just doing whatever you prefer.
Your Leannes BOM is georgius. Love working on my Leannes House now. And I am thinking about getting Quilters journey too. But first I have to finish this BOM :)
Enjoy your week

Sounds like heaven to me. I don't think there is anything much better than relaxing at home and doing what you want when you want. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Sounds like a little bit of heaven on earth. Especially the lazing on the porch and watching and listening to a thunderstorm.
Your quilter's journey block is absolutely beautiful - the colors are fantastic. I'm going to have to re-investigate Leanne's patterns . . . I remember loving her things in general, but I don't remember this specifically.
Enjoy your week. :-)

That sounds like a great vacation. I love to do tht - take time off so I can catch up on the things I want to do - what normal life is supposed to be all about. I hope you have a wonderful week.

Ah, those are my types of vacations! I've never understood people had to be away from their home on vacation. Your quilt is looking lovely. Where do you get your pattern Journey of a Quilter? I've been introduced to her work via May Britt. It's lovely! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your hammock. Dh and I had a discussion about putting a wrap around porch on our home! ;o)

I have tried to get DH to "take a vacation by staying home", but I haven't had any luck, at least not yet. You would think that since he flies about 100,000 miles a year he would want to stay home, but nope, no luck.

A great start to Leanne's block. A lot of bloggers are either doing her House or Quilter's Journey. As for me, I bought her Romancing The Road Trip and am making postcards.

I can hear the porch swing creaking and can see you and Eric quietly swinging backward and forward and listening to the thunder. Love the quilt design and looking forward to watching the progess.

Great vacation you have going I think, I love being at home and at home with my hubby is even better :O),,,nice you guys have the week together :O)...

I too enjoy the EFX and weights...though I find I am not as inclined to do the weights at home as I am the EFX, I am wondering if its lack of a lifting partner that has made the difference...

Your Iris are very pretty!

Your week at home sounds wonderful! I hope that you were able to enjoy every moment and accomplish many things as well as rest and relax. Your Journey of a Quilter quilt looks so interesting. It might just be the project I need after I complete my two quilts that are started but waiting patiently.
