I’m having a great week. Work has called a couple of times, but I’m grateful for the job, so it is what it is….

I’ve been catching up on some things--- visited a friend who had lost her husband recently. I remember she used to sew all the time. I brought her a book and a couple of fat quarters. I guess I’m pretty naive, but quilting is the ‘fix’ for just about everything for me…. I worked in my Sunday School Classroom, just doing some organizing.. again things I don’t normally get to do. Got a baby gift. I had dreams of making something, but settled for purchasing a little outfit, but I made the card and gift bag. A nice compromise, I think. Recognizing limits is a good thing.

I made another block for the ‘Journey of a Quilter’ quilt. I even traced for the stitching.
The remainder of the week, I’ll work on it and My Primitive Garden quilt.

Monday afternoon my book came in….so You can guess the time I’ve spent dreaming over it.
I highly recommend it to everyone. I finished ‘ The Quilter’s Homecoming’ in the hammock yesterday.. a good book, but my favorite was a ‘Circle of Quilters.”

I’ve been keeping up with the daily chores, they don’t seem like drudgery – they almost seem like a race to complete to get to the fun stuff. A few days off really help.

It sounds like you're having a wonderful time off. Love the photo of your block, so beautifully dispayed on the buggy. Enjoy the rest of the week off.

I like the Circle of Quilters a lot too! Your block looks wonderful. How are you marking the embroidery lines?

Don't you love Romancing the Road Trip? I'm bringing mine with me on my retreat this weekend. I think I have enough scraps with me to make one of the blocks.

You're right, recognising limits makes for a much less stressful life!

Now I'm really envious. Laying in the hammock reading is right up my alley--much better than all that exercise stuff! LOL! Sounds like you're having a wonderful time! I think vacations at home are sometimes the best ones.

I've just finished that book too. It was quite good...not her best, but not the worst either.

You sound so relaxed and happy. This week is obviously doing you good. I love that buggy. When are you getting the bicycle *vbg*?

Sounds like you're having a nice vacation. I love your block. Makes me kinda regret I passed on that pattern. Just too many others to be done first.

I've been kinda on vacation this week too. I did go in for a bit on Monday and will go in for a few hours today but other than that my time has been mine to do whatever I pleased. Mostly I've worked in the yard and cleaned house but I've done a good bit of sewing and napping too. My kinda vacation. :-)

Your week off sounds wonderful. The block is great...can't wait to see the whole quilt. I love seeing projects in pieces and then the finished product. Thanks for sharing! Bren

Don't forget to spend lots of time in the hammock . . . chores are good, but only in moderation *s*

your quilt is wonderful. I'm confused, a quilter's journey is different from Leanne's house BOM? Or perhaps that's the name of her company. I have learned of so many new designers via blogland; designers I would not have known had it not been for this medium. Enjoy the rest of your vacation. I'm with Libby on chores, in moderation! ;o) I have never heard nor read anywhere of someone saying on their death bed "I should have done more chores" ;o) Enjoy life! Be well!

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your time off. It sounds so relaxing - even with the chores.

Love your Journey of a Quilter. I should have known that they were Thimbleberries fabrics. It's going to be gorgeous.

Sounds like you have really enjoyed your week at home. Nice if you could do that every week! Your Journey quilt looks great, and I love the look of that chair. Your backyard looks so pleasant.

Hi! Nice to meet another combined Leanne & Jennifer fan :o)

I love your blocks for the "Journey of a Quilter"!!! Can hardly wait to see it all stitched up :o) I've got "Leanne's House" (her first BOM) in my drawer, awaiting stitching, but I need to finish a few other projects first... And her "Living the Dream" is within easy reach... :o)

Interesting that your favorite of Jennifer's books is The Circle of Quilters. I quite enjoyed that one; but my all time favorite is Round Robin, closely followed by "The Sugar Camp Quilt" and "The Runaway Quilt" - then again I'm a die hard Elm Creek Quilts fan *lol*

Enjoy your stitching! Wishing you a great weekend!

I hope you've had a great week! Ironically, I've pulled my Quilter's Journey patterns today to start prepping for stitching. I love your blocks and such. It will be fun to watch your progress as I work on mine, too.

I'd love to make Leanne's House, too but I have to tell myself to just take "baby steps" for now. LOL

And, I've been coveting Romancing the Road Trip but....

:-)

Hi Mel, sounds like a marvelous vacation week...so happy you decided to do it 'your way' *VBS*

Love what I am seeing of your My Primative Garden and also the Journey of a Quilter. Could you tell me where the idea for the second one came from? A pattern or a book? I'm not making a connection, help!
Love the birdhouse, it's just perfect..whether function or just decorative, the colors and textures are wonderful..*S* You have such a good eye. Hugs, Finn
