A 5 AM photo before I head out to work shows the embroidery that brings to life another block in the Journey of a Quilter. It’s a chilly morning 41 degrees on June 29th.
They had frost advisories out, but I just said if it frosts tonight, the garden just wasn’t meant to be… I don’t think we got any….
Every day this week has been pretty uneventful--- just the way I like it. Weed a row of the garden, water the petunias, run Ransom, quilt a few stitches every night.
We’re off to see the new Die Hard movie tonight—Yeah, I’m a Bruce Willis fan. We’re having dinner with friends tomorrow night and church on Sunday.
Tuesday I did hit a small quilt shop in Eagle River. She’s closing her doors. Not because of lack of sales, but she’s going to be wholesaling her hand-dyed wool to quilt shops around the country. Everything in the store was 30% off, so I picked up a couple of pieces, three yards each just for wishful thinking. It was therapy--- cheaper than a psychiatrist I say.

Such a lovely block, hope you enjoy the movie and your dinner out tomorrow.
It's beautiful...you do wonderful work!
I love your quilt. The colors are really nice.
My goodness I love to see 41 degrees anywhere...we've had 75 at night and no cooler!
Looks like a great block!
41 sounds wonderful to me...it's sooo hot and sticky here. Send some our way...love your stitching!
Your piece is really coming together so nicely - each sentiment that is stitched on just seems to fit . . . just right *s*
41 does seem a bit chilly when it's about to be July 1. We are holding on to some pretty pleasant days here- I'm grateful.
I'm so jealous -- I love the Die Hard movies with Bruce! We don't ever go to movies anymore. Bill can't hear well enough and is constantly asking me what was said -- very annoying! So I have to wait til it comes out on dvd! Glad you're getting some quilting in in the evenings.
I'm especially appreciating your Gratitudes! Have a nice weekend.
Hugs ~ Jeanne
Oh, wow it looks beautiful. That is going to be some sweet looking quilt! I'm with you on uneventful days! Yep, my kind of day! Glad you got some quilting therapy in there too! Thanks for sharing!
I love the colors in the fabrics you are using. Sounds like a great weekend for you.
That block is so very you. Have a good weekend.
Your Journey quilt is beautiful - seems like each block is even better than the last. I can't wait to see the whole thing.
Glad you've had a good week!
So-o-o loving your quilt with the stitchery mixed in!!! Combining stitchery with piecing seems to be my latest obsession LOL! And BRRRRRR!
I'm with KCQuilter, piecing with embroidery is so pretty; love your piece. And it got up so early! No fun to worry about your garden at this late date, but gosh that 41 degrees sounds so refreshing.
Hi Mel, yup, my part of WI was blessed with those frosty temps yesterday, and not much different today. Had the feel of Sept when I opened the door to see the day. Ebby and I have needed the EB the past 2 nights! Not very high, but if I want the window open...can't have her freezing...LOL, now can I?
The journey quilt is going to be very special. Love the stitchery you are incorporating. And like Jeanne, I love your gratitudes today....*VBS*..amen. Hugs and happy weekend, Finn
It's looking wonderful! Tell us what you thought of the movie--I'm always interested in what's good and what's not so good, and the critics don't always get it right when it comes to the tastes of us regular folk! LOL!
Wonderful block. So many bloggers are making Leanne's quilts. I made one of her blocks from Romancing the Road Trip book today and I'm working on the stitchery this afternoon.
The embroidery is just so pretty on your quilt blocks!
41 degrees in June for a low... mmm I can't imagine that ... I don't think that ever happens in Texas lol... Glad your garden made it with no frost :O)..
That's what I always tell people too - quilting is cheaper than a psychiatrist. However, if I counted up all the money I've spent over the years I wonder if that would really be true. :-) At least I have something to show for what I've spent - unlike my husband and his golf. He loves it as much as I love my quilting, so that's OK.
What a fun block -- and yes, fabric is much less expensive than conventional therapy!
Just the kind of psychiatry I like ! I see some Nell's Flower Garden in there, looking great, Tracey
Hope you had a good weekend. Your quilter's journey blocks are really lovely.
The quilt is looking beautiful!
We were in the 40's when I woke this morning, but it is warming up nicely.
What a lovely block. Maybe I will have to put that quilt on my future wish to do list ? :-)
