Where have I been???? I guess I’ve been just adjusting to life at home without the kids. The economy has hit work hard, so job responsibilities vary. We’ve been enjoying the weather a lot. It’s been pretty mild, so the leave seem to be just clinging to the trees longer than usual.
Here is the view from the ‘Front Porch’.

I’ve tried all summer to get a photograph of the view from the Hammock on the ‘Covered Porch’ in the back – the day light was just perfect today.
Experts are blaming the drought as for the reason for lack of red.
On the quilting front, I’ve just about finished the wool appliqué and here are the flying geese blocks. I am determined that my salt box quilt will be the scrappy stash buster kind of quilt, with only the wool being the new fabric purchased for it. You can see scrap pieced triangles of Thimbleberries fabrics from the scrap basket. I thought it was a little too “new” looking after the snap shot and dunked it in in the leftover afternoon coffee to age it a little.
We went bike riding this afternoon as temps reached 73 degrees. That basket came in handy for a quart of milk we needed for home.
A snapshot of my Fall star on the front door.

W-O-W!!! What a lovely view from your front porch! I'm a star freek and so you've got to know that I love your star and the flying geese will look great on your saltbox house piece...dunked or not;)

You have a beautiful yard. I'm sure you enjoy it. When we moved from the Gulf Coast in AL back to Tennessee, I wanted to mail fall leaves back to my children I taught in Mother's Day Out. My kids thought I was crazy until they spent the day racking leaves only to jump in them and hide.

I always come away inspired by your projects. I love the colors you use.

The leaves on your trees are so pretty. We pretty well go from green directly to brown here in Houston. :(

And it's always a challenge adapting to changed circumstances. But we always do it, don't we! Thank God!

Hugs, Elaine

BEAUTIFUL!!!
Our color is just beginning and we're far enough south that most of it won't be as spectacular. You are certainly blessed with great views front and back.
Your flying geese look great and I bet will be perfect with the houses.
Keep enjoying . . .

The trees are so beautiful - so lovely that they are from your house. Your door looks nicely decked out for the season.

The fall foliage is breathtaking! Here in Keller, TX I have to be satisfied with looking at photos - as the girl from Houston said - our leaves go from green to brown and then drop. Actually the new green sometimes push off the old brown ones.

Isn't Fall wonderful! The flying geese and star on the door look great.

Your fall glory is wonderful! Thanks for sharing that. All the leaves are still green and firmly attached to the trees here! Very pretty flying geese...

I am jealous of the view. I love fall colors. We went to Ohio last fall to experience it but the leaves were very disappointing. Very little color at all.

There may not be much red but the golds are gorgeous! Great pictures.

Wow - your fall colors are spectacular! For some reason when I take fall pictures the colors never come out as stunning looking as they do in real life - but yours look fantastic!

And also love all your quilting abilities - you do beautiful work!

Don't you just love fall?

Hope you are well - hugs - Diane (from Michigan)

Oh I miss Michigan in the Fall!!!! Thanks for the lovely photos. Here in GA, fall is pretty dull but the weather is nicer with no humidity.

Oh my gosh--those trees! My friend in MN used to call that the "golden aura". And don't those flying geese just fit right in! Have a nice weekend Mel!
