Blue Birds in a Row....

I’ve about had my fill of winter. The novelty has worn off. We’re at the part of the season where your vehicle stays in a state of permanent filth. You’re pretty tired of your winter clothes. And realistically, we’re still talking about six more weeks of winter. Suck it up..right!?!?

Have you ever seen a quilt that the pattern cover just didn’t do it justice? Colleen showed me in her posting Bluebirds in a Row—I thought ‘cute’. But I didn’t give it much thought. But I went to Primitive Gatherings last Wednesday and saw the display….
I knew it meant an end to winter. Maybe it was the colors of their hand-dyed wool (lots better than the pattern photo). I kind of have the Cabin- Northwoods thing going on in my house so I thought it was perfect. I traced it and cut it out tonight. I needed a handwork project since I finished my Baskets of life stitching.

I guess quilts are like books…they shouldn’t be judged by their covers---(even pattern covers..:)

Amazing what a difference the beautiful wool made to it. The colors are so much richer.

That is so true. I have passed by several patterns without even a thought. Then one day you see it on someones blog or a model in a shop and it looks so different. I am ready for Spring too.

Ahhh I had the exact same thoughts... it was the beautiful, blue of the birds that I just loved. I had the exact same reaction until I saw it in person :o) Enjoy! Oh, and P.S. I am with you... winter needs to END, but sadly, that doesn't look like it is going to happen anytime soon around here either.

The bluebirds do look like spring and you can dream of what is to come.

I bet you ARE tired of winter up there in the UP! The birds are pretty. When we had our little bit of snow, the bluebirds showed up so nicely against it.
Question - how do you mark the wool to cut it out? Have only done a little bit with wool and that was the problem part.

Oh I know exactly what you mean...sometimes a fabric line doesn't do it for me so I completely look over the book...then the next thing I know somebody has a gorgeous quilt and I want the pattern. I'm usually stunned to learn it was one I passed on!

That is so true about the colours! I've been very surprised, sometimes pleasantly, sometimes not, with the real thing.
I share your gratitude for the dishwasher...though only when I remember to turn it on!

You always inspire me to get a needle and thread out...too bad I'm at work. I love the birds. The pillow cases I made at Christmas made me think of spring with girls throwing flowers back and forth. You can see a picture on my blog, Stitched Together.

Oh it is adorable! Of course seeing that stuff in person always is more tempting than in a pic!

Whoever said a picture is worth a thousand words never had to buy a quilt design from a photo only *s*

Tee hee hee...after I saw your post and Colleens I surfed right over to Primitive Gatherings and ordered it. Now I just have to get the thread for it. Thanks for sharing...I love blue birds. My grandson Jak and I are bird watchers. It is an afternoon ritual now. We open the curtain and hang over the back of the sofa... he points and says birrr birr! He hasn't quite got the d in there. His squeals are delightful. He gets so excited. I can't wait for warmer weather so we can go outside. Hugs, Karen
