Fabric Cut Up

I took out my frustrations on the fabric. I finally cut up the layer cake of Blackbird designs Harvest Home last night.
The game plan for the moment is to start piecing today. I’m using muslin as my background fabric. I have a friend that doesn’t quilt, but listens patiently to my stories. She always tells me she doesn’t want to quilt---she just wants to buy the fabric to hold and look at. That’s exactly how I felt about those fabric squares.
Thanks for the support in yesterday’s post. It’s a tough situation and friends make the difference.

The forecast is predicting 73 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. That will go a long way to healing heart aches.

Happy sewing! I can't wait to see what this strips will become.

I can't decide what I think about layer cakes, jelly rolls, etc. I really am not a random person, but it is fun to have some of each fabric in a collection.

73 degrees, awesome!

Looks like fun--can't wait to see what you create. How nice to have weather in the 70's--we are still in the 90's here. Hope your day is nice. Julie

Good morning (well, it's still morning here on the west coast!)
I just got a bit caught up with your posts... I'm sorry about your work, but I know that God has something planned for you! All your quilts and gardens are just amazing! I'm more of a small-scale quilter... regular 'finishes' are what keep me going! You had asked about the pinwheel quilt... I started with 4" squares of both the white and the print... made two triangle units from each pair and the pinwheels grew from there. In the end I trimmed them down to 6" pinwheels to make sure they all matched perfectly. I picked up some white for borders and backing last night so hopefully in the next couple of days it'll get finished.
Have a wonderful day! (I saw you spent a day in Green Bay... I have an aunt and uncle who are in Wisconsin up at the 'top of the thumb' in Door County. Small world!)

Sun this summer in Michigan is a welcome treat!! BTW your scallops looked great.

I have several layer cakes and charm packs I just can't cut into yet. Sigh, I like to see them all intact for now

So sorry about the jobs, it is a tough time here too.

That is gorgeous fabric. Isn't it funny how we buy the fabric knowing we are going to cut it up and then have such a hard time doing it? I was just talking to a friend about how all my favorite fabric is all safe and sound and uncut...which is silly, I would enjoy it so much more in a quilt!!! So good for you cutting into yours :)

I have an applique quilt prepared using Harvest Home but haven't sewn one stitch. I will be watching to see what you do with yours.

I've had a jelly roll for over a year and I'm still "thinking" about what to make. I have some other knock-your-sox-off type of fabric that has never been near a cutter. Sure is nice to look at though!!

Hope something good happens for you and your husband soon.

This quilt will be stunning. Anything Blackbird is beautiful, but the pattern you've shown is wonderful. You will have a winner when this one is done.

I am glad you have something fun to help keep you busy.

I'm SOOOOOO glad to see you back. I had guessed at busy-ness with kids and getting back to school. Had not guessed the work problems, and my heart goes out to you. I know God will sustain you through your deep faith.
I'm way impressed with someone who can cut into a beautiful and finished quilt - but I love your scallops! That is such a pretty, pretty quilt. I hope the binding goes well.
Enjoy the sunshine!
